Our Story

Our Branded in Time roots stem from Thomas Nelson, Jr. (1738-89), one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Nelson's devotion to the patriot cause during the American Revolution contributed significantly to the creation of the United States. Nelson's grandfather established the Nelson family in Yorktown, Virginia arriving from England in 1705. He soon became a prosperous and influential merchant. He constructed his home, the Nelson House, about 1730. His son, William, inherited the family business and went on to accumulate extensive land holdings throughout the colony. William also became a powerful politician, serving as both president of the Governor's Council and as acting governor.

That patriotic spirit runs deep in the many generations of the Branded in Time family. We love our country and are proud to live in a nation where traditions run deep and the great American spirit can't be extinguished.

Branded in Time began with conversations around the kitchen table. We were gathered with family over the holidays just reminiscing about times together with our extended family. As our boys grow older we were looking for ways to pass down memorable treasures. It was this desire that led to developing Branded in Time. We set out to create a custom crest that we could all wear now and one that our boys would want to pass down to their children and our great grandchildren. It gives us great joy to help Texas families, and those throughout the country, develop an emblem that represents their unique family.
